Wales came out to meet him, accompanied with he* eldeft fon, Edward, who was then about three yeard
old.
He there difbanded his army : the men at arms departed different ways :^ the lords, barons, ahd knights of Gafcony, to their caftles ; the knights of England to their governments, or high fteward-fhips ; and the free companies, as they returned, re* mained in the principality, waiting for payment. The prince, who thought himfelf much obliged to them, was defirous of fatisfying them as far as waà in his power, and as foon as money could be raifed; He faid, that 4 although don Pedro had not kept his engagements, it was not becoming him to aft in like manner to thofe who had fo well ferved him/:
