pardon aid grace done to us, by king Charles, our lord paramount, and by the aforefaid duke and duchefs, earl and countess of Flanders, our lawful and natural lords : and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts, for thefe faid graces and pardons. We alfo swear obedience, as good and loyal fubjects (hould do, to them, and will guard, to-the utmoft of our power, their per-fons and honour. In teftimony of which, we the duke and duchefs aforefaid have had our feals put to thefe letters ;—and we the fheriffs, deacons, and com-monalty of the town of Ghent have alfo affixed the feal of the town. In addition to which, we the duke and duchefs aforefaid have entreated and do entreat our very dear and well-beloved aunt the duchefs of Lux-embourg and Brabant, and our very dear and well-beloved brother duke Albert of Bavaria. And we alfo, the ' fheriffs, deacons and com-monalty of Ghent, entreat the very powerful and puiffant princefs the lady duchefs of Lux-embourg and Brabant, and the high ' and puif-fant prince duke Albert aforefaid. And alfo we the duke and duchefs of Burgundy, and we the fheriffs, council and commonalty of Ghent, en-treat the barons and nobles of the country of Flanders, hereafter named, from the good towns of Bruges, Ypres, the Franconate, Mechlin and Antwerp, for the fecurity of the peace, and af-furance of the truth of the above-mentioned ar-ticles, to affix their own feals, and the feals of the different towns, to thefe prefents. 105
