CASTER EMBARKS ON AN EXPEDITION TO RICO* VER CASTILLE.
^OT long after this converfation, the duke of Lancafter had a conference with his brother, the earl of Cambridge, on the affairs of Caftille and Portugal. The earl, who had been in the latter country upwards of a year, faid, that during the reign of don Ferdinand, when he was in Por-tugal, jthe canorf de Rober&c, and fir William Windfor and other knights whom he had led •thither, had told him of the murmurs of the common people relative to the fucceflion, and on this account had prefled him to carry away his ftm. * In Goifs name,9 replied the duke, the portuguefe fquire has informed mç moft tircum-ftantiaily of all this matter ; and we cannot gain a qiore convenient entrance to Caftille than through Portugal Arragon is too diftant ; and befides, the king of Arragon has always been more at-VbL,ym.
