AFTER QUITING THE ARMY HE TRAVELLED TUBO VARIOUS PARTS OF EUROPE AND BEING IN ITALY IN THE YEAR 1799 JOINED THE RUSSIAN ARMY BEFORE ANCONA AS A VOLUNTEER OFFICER & FOR HIS SERVICES AND ASSISTANCE IN REDUCING THAT FORTRESS HIS LATE IMPERIAL MAJESTY OF ALL THE RUSSIAS PAUL CONFERRED UPON HIM THE ORDER OF ST ANNE OF HOLSTEIN 2" CLASS. HE DIED IN THIS CONVENT THE 7T DAY OF JULY IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD & SAVIOUR 1814 AND WAS INTERRED BY THE HOLY FATHERS UNDERNEATH THIS STONE WITH THEIR CONSENT AND THAT OF THE MOST REVEREND THE BISHOP OF THE GREEK CHURCH IN THE ISLAND OF CYPRUS.
